The Director

 

​Mrs. Kourtney Owens is the director of the dance program at Rolesville High School where she teaches all levels of dance including the RHS Dance Company. 

 

Mrs. Owens grew up dancing at local studios in NC & VA, her high school dance program, and at Governor's School for the Arts. Before starting at Rolesville High School,  she graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with a BFA in Dance Education. While at ECU, she performed in various senior choreography performances, Dance 2009, and at the American College Dance Festival. At ECU, she studied dance under Dr. Dawn Clark, Patti Weeks, Teal Darkenwald, and John Dixon. She completed her internship under Khristy Lee at South Central High School in Winterville, NC. After graduating from ECU, she taught dance for  3 years at Northwoods Park Middle School in Jacksonville, NC for Onslow County Schools.

 

While not at RHS, she enjoys spending time with her son, husband, friends, and family. Mrs. Owens is excited and thankful for the opportunity to start the dance program at Rolesville and can't wait to see what the future holds for it!
